Allegedly, according to rumours - he asked to be released from his contract as Ipswich want him.
So Sunderland have sacked him as it gets his wages off the books and he was happy to go with minimal pay off.
If this isn't take-over related and he's genuinely gone to go to Ipswich and they haven't got anybody lined up

NO names have been linked within the consortium etc.
They might have enough to get the club off Short but it could massively backfire if they don't have enough to really spend and replace. If they don't get out of League 1 at first time, i could see them stuck their for a few years.
