    1. I was speaking in the context of the eminently sensible RS intimating that PW’s objective is to get us up on a limited budget and then we’ll take it from there, and wondering about the impact of such an increasingly common sentiment on both the manager and his staff if that is the case.

    2. PW was hired because of his alleged expertise in winning promotion using limited resources and yet we’re constantly told that he hasn’t achieved because of his limited resources. The two don’t really go together and I imagine a fair few L1 managers would welcome the resources PW has at his disposal.

Your comments about the relative performances of PW and his successor may well be well founded and fair however at the time PW left Rotherham in 8th, Derby had just removed Rosenior who - in the immediate aftermath of probably DCFC’s biggest ever crisis - had us, miraculously given the circumstances, in 7th.
Little point in going over the Rosenior/Warne argument again, what’s done is done (over 13 months ago), but ‘contextually’ it doesn’t really appear to make much sense and, if anything, hindsight only appears to make things more puzzling.
What hiring a manager who was experienced in league 1 and had achieved 3 promotions from that league doesn't make sense? Even with hindsight, which actually tells us nothing as to what Rosenior (who after all had never managed a club at any level) may have achieved if he'd stayed, the decision taken at the time was clearly a sound one taking everything account. Nothing to be puzzled about there!

Indeed the performance of Derby up until the FA Cup game with West Ham actually showed it to be a good decision. The basis for the decision are clear, whether it will work out as intended, ah well thats football, a myriad of factors outside the control of the manager can and do impact on results such as player form, injuries, refs decisions etc. Any sentient football fan knows and understands that.
Sure club form fell away from there, but that happens in football, maybe if Warne had been able to strengthen in January he may have been able to refresh the squad and cover injuries such as Bird's, but its all conjecture.

There nothing alleged about Warne's promotion record, its there in black and white!! That's a very strange statement at odds with the facts!!
So nobody is constantly being told thats the case, its a simple fact! Not sure where the qualification "with limited resources" comes from, other than in this league there usually isn't a big transfer budget to buy players.

One only has to look at "big" clubs like Sunderland, Notts Forest and Ipswich to understand that having more resources than other teams is no guarantee of success. Ipswich spent £2.5 million in transfer fees last season, and got promotion thats £2.5 million more than Derby were able to spend either that season or this, that can mean being able to buy a prolific striker and a couple of other quality players who can just make the difference.

RS wasn't intimating that Warne had been hired on the basis of get promotion on a limited budget and we'll take it from there! he was along with myself pondering as to whether Warne would be able to manage Derby successfully in the championship should he achieve promotion. But there is a lack of understanding the position that Derby were in, an academy that had lost its best players, even at clubs like Rotherham, there will be youngsters coming through that can reinforce the first team and provide cover, Derby hadn't even got that resource to draw on.

Warne wasn't hired by the club on that basis, in fact I doubt whether managing in the championship was even mentioned, he will have a clear target of achieving promotion and building a team that can do that. The fact he was given a 4 year contract suggests that Clowes and the Board are looking to achieve that within that timescale, no doubt there are other targets about Derby's league position but realistically the aim last season was to stabilise the club and see where we finished, if anything we overachieved and that's set expectations amongst fans to an unrealistic level.

So your wondering about an impact of something that doesn't actually exist! Warne, his coaching staff and the players focus will be purely on performance in league 1, what happens after promotion will be something to worry about if and when it occurs! Given the nature of football any manager , coach or player are used to the fact that if results don't go as planned, or if circumstances change then their futures can be threatened.
