    Sinkov:

If I tried to answer that it would be guess work,we had the Gulf war and the war with Lebanon,my memory is a 'no starter' on all that. How many times I wore that gas mask ,how many times I went in a protected room,or in the Air raid shelter, when did I hand in my 'M 16 ,to authorities ,its all a dense fog in the past!
After the end of his war with Iran, Saddam Hussein had a huge, battlewise army sitting idle and his threats to "burn half of Israel" had to be taken seriously. The IDF was concerned at the availability to Saddam Hussein of considerable quantities of Russian-made Scud missiles , against which no effective countermeasure was as yet in Israel's arsenal; particularly if those missiles were to be equipped with chemical warheads, which Saddam was reputed to have perfected with the help of German companies. For the first time in Israel's history, the entire country faced a real threat of destruction with non-conventional weapons.
In January, 1991, Coalition air forces attacked Iraq. In response, Iraq fired salvos of ground-to-ground missiles into Israel. Over a period of more than 1 month, approximately 38 Iraqi versions of Scud missiles fell in 19 missile attacks. These missiles mainly hit the greater Tel Aviv region and Haifa, although western Samaria and the Dimona area were also hit by missiles. These attacks caused 2 civilian deaths, although indirectly, they caused the following casualties: 4 heart attacks, 7 deaths as a result of incorrect use of biological/chemical warfare kits, 208 injured, 225 cases of unnecessary injection of atropine. Damage to general property consisted of 1,302 houses, 6142 apartments, 23 public buildings, 200 shops and 50 cars. After seeing the first 2 Scud missiles hit a little south of where I live, and a grey yellow smoke I instantly thought 'chemical weapons'. I never went out to watch again!
It is true that Israel viewed Iraq as a serious threat to its security. Israeli forces were prepared to participate in the Gulf War, they did not because the United States asked them not to. Even after the provocation of the Scud missile attacks, Israel assented to U.S. appeals not to respond. I heared Pilots were ready in their planes, waiting a signal.

Did they know we were starting a war based on a non-existent threat? All I know is we were told Iraq had chemical weapons ,and yes we were given gas masks. First call was given to the Tel Aviv-Haifa coastal area, with its heavy and largely Jewish population density, as well as to Jerusalem, the second-largest city. Smaller urban areas were next given priority, followed by rural areas in Israel proper and finally the occupied territories. The vast majority of Palestinians made no secret of their support for Iraq, and many were seen on their rooftops cheering as Scuds rained on Israeli population centers. Because of their support for Saddam Hussein, and the Iraqi dictator's professed concern for the Palestinians, Israel did not believe it was likely the territories would come under attack.

Israel, Iran exchange threats as war prospects mount'

In yet another war of words, Israel warns Iran against further escalation after Iran threatens an all out war that will drive Israelis to the sea; Iranian army's second-in-command: 'the fingers are on the trigger and the missiles are ready for launch.'

Recent growing hostilities between the two nations came following Israel's air strike on the T-4 airbase in Syria earlier this month, which claimed 14 lives, including seven Iranian "military advisors."

The attack reportedly targeted an advanced Iranian air-defense system that was recently installed, and was aimed to "blunt Tehran’s expanding influence in the Middle East." He continued by cautioning Israel not to rely on their might of its Air Force, as its airbases "are within range of fire and will be out of commission quickly," or their allies, naming the US and the UK, as "there will be no trace of you left when they arrive. "We know you well, you are besieged everywhere in the occupied territories—from the north and the west," Salami said, referring to Israel's borders with Lebanon and Syria at the north and adjacency to the Mediterranean Sea at the West.

Not exactly the USA or its allies ,but the Syrians:

The Palestinian Authority does not care about Palestinians killed in Syria? Syrian government forces continue bombardment of Yarmouk refugee camp of Yarmouk. Since the beginning of the campaign on April 19, at least 18 civilians have been killed, activists in nearby rebel-held towns told Al Jazeera. According to the United Nations, 1,200 civilians remain trapped inside, mostly in the basements of their homes, without access to food or medicine.

....why should they care? Let the Egyptian leadership worry about the Palestinians who are really Egyptian; let the Saudi Arabian leadership worry about the Palestinians who are really Saudis. And the Palestinians who are really Syrian?

The PA has no power to do anything militarily, but we do not see their diplomats shouting out in pain or banging on tables in the UN, begging the “protector of world peace” to pull no stops in rescuing the Palestinians dying in Syria or running for their lives.

On the (26th of April 2018), renowned Israeli Arab writer, Khaled Abu Toameh, wrote a heartfelt piece on the atrocities committed against Palestinian refugees in Syria, describing a clear case of ethnic cleansing. He concluded with the claim that if Palestinians are not being killed by Jews they are of no interest to anyone, not the UN, not even their own leaders in the Palestinian Authority.

For the past four weeks, the two rival Palestinian parties have been castigating Israel for its actions along its border with the Gaza Strip. They have also been calling on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its “crimes” against Palestinians. But when it comes to atrocities being committed against their people in an Arab country, words apparently fail Palestinian leaders. Assad and his army can slaughter Palestinians and launch airstrikes on a Palestinian camp without a whimper of protest from Hamas or the Palestinian Authority. In fact, all one hears is the silence of the dead.

The Syrian army said on Sunday that rockets had struck several military bases in Hama and Aleppo countryside in what it said was new "aggression" by its enemies, state television said. In a news flash, state television said the missile attacks took place at 10:30 p.m. local time. Earlier, state television said successive blasts were heard in rural Hama province and that authorities were investigating the cause.
"Syria is being exposed to a new aggression with some military bases in rural Hama and Aleppo hit with enemy rockets," an army source was quoted as saying without elaborating. Reports from the Syrian opposition said 38 regime soldiers were killed and 57 were injured in the attack, citing media outlets with connections to the regime. An opposition source said one of the locations hit was an army base known as Brigade 47 near Hama city, widely known as a recruitment center for Iranian-backed Shi'ite militias who fight alongside President Bashar Assad's forces.
Tensions have risen dramatically between the two arch-enemies following the infiltration of an armed Iranian drone into northern Israel which the IDF claims was on a sabotage attack mission against the Jewish State. In mid-April, a strike on the T4 airbase in Homs province blamed on Israel killed seven IRGC soldiers, including Col. Mehdi Dehghan who led the drone unit operating out of the base. Reports later surfaced that advanced Iranian Air defenses had been the target of the strike.

Earlier on Sunday Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman stated that the Jewish State would respond forcibly if any rockets are launched to Israel or Israeli jets. “If someone thinks that it is possible to launch missiles to Israeli cities or our aircraft, no doubt we will respond and we will respond very forcefully,” “We will keep our freedom of operation in all of Syria. We have no intention to attack Russia or to interfere in domestic Syrian issues. But if somebody thinks that it is possible to launch missiles or to attack Israel or even our aircraft, no doubt we will respond and we will respond very forcefully.”
