The initial batch of Oxford vaccine has been produced abroad, but the majority of it will be produced in the UK. So, if they wait, the vaccine they receive could well be developed and produced in the UK. Maybe, it isn't the mentality of the over 80's that needs to be brought into question, but somewhere closer to home?

Another factor to consider is that there is a greater question mark over the delaying the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine and also with the Pfizer vaccine being in shorter supply, how likely are you to receive the second dose of Pfizer, and not be given the Oxford one?

Question: which is greater A or B ?

    A, 27 x 2
    B, 1 x 4

The answer is B, of course.

The little old UK has given out more vaccines in 4 weeks than the 27 EU countries have in 2 weeks.
My lot started less than a week ago and we've done 35K so far................ slow but sure. They had planned to do more but we keep getting given less doses than we ordered and were originally yold we'd be getting.......

The Israelis seem to be showing the way with what looks like ‘drive thru’ facilities. They’ve done 20% already in three weeks.

As ever...brilliant logistics but dubious morality in relation to the Palestinians, although that might be an oversimplification.

They probably won't vaccinate the Palestinians, could solve a lot of problems in their view. A sort of final solution, ironically.

Are there really 44.5 million people in Holland?

    35000*52*49 = 89 million jabs, 2 jabs each = 44. 5 million people.

But there are only 17m people in Holland

    Fake news 😉

Israel is quite unique as a country, basically they've ridden roughshod over every other country to get the vaccine first, then they have a much higher proportion of their country with military experience and training and therefore, are able to mobilise a vaccination force or any other force pretty rapidly.

They have a much higher sense of unity and compliance, compared with other countries.

Interesting Ram...really surprising figures, I think only the two Koreas and Cuba (?) have a greater % of trained soldiers, in relation to the size of population, than Israel.
We do have a quarter of a million of some sort of soldiers though. Must admit I’d rather be jabbed by a trained nurse than some hairy arsed soldier boy, but if this really is a race between the vaccine and the virus maybe it’s a case of needs must...assuming we have enough vaccine of course.

P.S. Two gorillas in San Diego zoo have apparently tested positive for Covid. Really not good.
