Chris Wood flew halfway round the world with a hamstring injury which, apparently, stiffened up with the travelling and then only played a total of 61 minutes in two games.
He returned home and then came on as a sub for 12 minutes against Arsenal. After that he started 5 matches in 17 days and was on the pitch for 416 minutes and scored once against Bournemouth away. Theses 5 matches saw us win 3 draw 1 and lose 1 to Leicester.
He got injured in the 35th minute of the game against Spurs on 23 December and this was a knee injury and nothing to do with his earlier hamstring injury.
SD has never been a manager who rushes players back, in fact, he is on record for saying that he very much leaves things up to the player as to how he feels. I certainly would not argue with this viewpoint because an early return can do much more damage than the original injury.
