To have a player of Shanklands abiltiy and not even attempt to play to his strengths is an utter disgrace.

Mellon is killing us im afraid.

A bit of perspective needed. We are sitting 6th with mainly the same team as we had in The Championship (that were dreadful to watch). We didn't get the summer strengthening we all knew we needed because of the pandemic, uncertainty about being promoted and being without a manger for the large part.

We are woeful to watch but if you said we would sitting 6th at this stage most would have taken it. Of course we have to be more creative but this takes time and after 2 4-0 defeats we could have gone on a slump but Micky chose to make us difficult to beat and consolidated our mid table position. I am sure Mellon knows where we need to strengthen and the limitations in the present squad. Too soon to be saying we have had enough given where we have come from.

I wouldn't be surprised if Shankland were to have a word in the managers/chairmans ear about a move in the next window. Its a crying shame how much of the ball he is getting and if the ball does manage to get to him its usually waist height or above. Really feel for him.
IMO we have the players if the formation and play style was to change. We dont play forward passes because we are always outnumbered. Our attacking threat looks like its supposed to come from wing backs which not 1 single player in our squad is. The team he puts out is a mess and has no intent on winning a game. Attack is the best form of defense is absolutely lost on this manager.

If he knows where we need to strengthen why did we sign Mcnulty? We needed width or a quality play maker, or a winger or 2.

We are 6th at the minute but lets see where we are after the next round of fixtures. All teams bellow us are not far away. If he doesnt change our current formation and play style we are 100% in a relegation battle.

What a load of utter garbage!! I've been following United for 44 years and will not be patronised. Why can't they call it like we see it - Utter Garbage. Not good enough!!

    No cohesion,
    No Strategy
    No passing
    No heart
    No fight

Nothing. Like what the hell do they do in training all week, it is like they have never met each other!!

If we get beat and we have had a go, the keepers made some good saves, and we lose - I'll take that, but please United management and coaching staff don't you dare try and peddle this "Really solid" rubbish, when what we have been watching since September is the same negative, non-football

Totally agree with statement on Shankland.
Neilson and how he left us was a disgrace - but he had McMullan, Appere and Shankland playing and they have gone backwards under Mellon and so we have as a team as well.
Hamilton are now on our tails and relegation beckons if we keep playing this way under this manager!!
    Agree word for word.

We needed to strengthen in a number of positions. Its not easy doing this when you are told you have no funds. I think the plan is keep us in the premiership this season, and once we are out of the pandemic with revenue streams restored MM will be given the cash to build the squad.

It is horrible to watch just now but think this is the plan.

Agree. It's horrible to watch but if we can muster enough points especially at home against the other so called dross then maybe we can stay in this league.

The 21/22 season seems a long way away yet though.

We haven't remedied this since the firesale and our jolly down into the Championship. Not sure I hold out much hope of it ever happening tbh.

The plan is awful. We are not playing in the English Premier League here. Its the SPL with teams full of players no better than ours and none of them have Shankland either. This current set up would see us struggling in the Championship. We look utterly dreadful and a persistence with this will see us at best in a relegation battle but honestly most likely relegated. Have we won a game playing 5 at the back?

We have the players to be doing better? Really? I think you're forgetting this is the same sh!te that stumbled over the line in the Championship bar Edwards, McNulty and now Fuchs

And what evidence is there to say Shankland is anything other than a decent Championship striker? There isn't any.
