It seems to me that DM's style and tactics is to have a player up front who canbring others into the game.
From Zola to Stockley, Cosgrove to Main, its plain to see that these are not predatory strikers or players with pace to run the channels.
What DM is looking for is bringing the three behind the player up top more into the game.
He looks for the attacking midfielders to provide the pace and run beyond the striker.

I've also got to concede that it has not worked as yet.
From Christie to McLean, Pawlett to Wright, GMS to McGinn, we've not had a consistent return of goals from the attacking midfielders
