    On This Day

1980 - United March on to a major trophy. Again. At Dens. Again.

The frothing Funny Lot are swatted aside in an embarrassingly one sided final with goals from Dodds and Sturrock. No T shirts or mugs were made following this event and in contrast to other ‘Greatest Games In A Club’s History’, an actual, bonafide, piece of silver, otherwise known as a ‘trophy’ was handed to Hamish The Goalie at the end.

Aside from you, I can't see anyone saying that. 🤔 As usual, it's just the fun. 🙂

The Fun, as a comedy show they are even a better class act than in years gone by.

Great story about the players having a meeting beforehand and deciding should the cup be won then Heggie would allow Hamish to collect the cup. Looking back the whole town was buzzing the weeks leading up to the final, Place I worked Funsters started creeping out the woodwork. Guys who had never mentioned fitba before were now all knowledgeable,

Thankfully they were all in their beds early that night,

My family had just moved back to Dundee, I was still in school. My uncle took me to a Dundee game first as I wanted to see both teams before I decided my allegiance. Everything about the experience was completely ****e, the weather, the crowd and the game, so much so I can't even remember the team they played, although Morton rings a bell. So I decided then that I'd stand in the United end for the final which was the next game up. What can I say, I fell in love with the mighty tangerine immediately and realised quickly that they were the big team in the city and that Dundee fc were and would always be ****e! 😂

That's your story and you're sticking to it😃but don't worry you're not the only one on here that went to Dens first then changed their team...quite a lot of it happened around that time 😂😄🙈
