    Brooks hat trick!! Could it be an omen for Brooks the Younger to fire himself into the history books.

    Yes 1st thing I saw too 64 a Brooks hat trick,one wouldn't go amiss at the sty,KK would never be able to sell him then the lad would be up there with all the other legends (that we sold on )

    Friends across the city? Sadly it was before my time but we cudda got close to that score a few times if it wasn't for fat piggy Pressman.Is 7 the most either team has scored in one Sheffield derby match? UTCB

    Indeed it was dear old Fred. Actually he didn't miss - it was saved by their goalkeeper.

    I notice that our official history has Brook (not Brooks) scoring 2, Alf Ringstead with 2 and Derek Hawksworth with 2. We had two Fred Smiths in the forward line that day and it was "little Fred" who got the other.

    The story was that at the end of the season, the Manchester City Secretary came over to sign "Fred Smith" and was sold "Big Fred" when it was really "Little Fred" that they thought they were getting. (One of our better transfer deals - certainly the Man C. fans thought so)

    I also note that the official attendance according to United was 51,075 - 970 less than the Green 'Un figure.
    Sloppy journalism even then, or United saving a bit on the distribution?
