    I said it on here over a year ago, close the academy just a waste of time and money.

    So did I, this subject is like a festering boil with me, it calms down then something like the Rogers article breaks and it flares up again!
    Apparently Brentford and one or two other clubs have completely closed their academies, it hasn’t doesn’t them any harm as it?
    A large bulk of clubs need to make a stand together, send out the message to the powers that be, either protect us (and the kids) or we’ll close down all youth operations.

    Totally agree with the majority of comments on this thread. What is the point in us putting the money, time and effort into the academy only to have these youngsters whisked away by the 'big' clubs. It seems like a pointless exercise to me. Why not go back to the old system whereby we use our scouts to travel up and down the country, spotting future prospects and signing them up before these lazy 'big' clubs get to know about them.
