    Agree with this.

Although if we go down and they can get us at knock down price, with Rafa staying again because of that happening, we might get a takeover but to be honest, we're never that lucky.

I personally think Staveley and crew have tried to take Ashley for a mug and are relying on fan discontent and hate for him to tip the scales in her favour.

Hate Ashley all you want but he's entitled to play hard ball and ask for what he feels the club is worth....not what people think it's worth.
If nobody pays then he keeps the club and doesn't worry about it.
If nobody pays then I'd say we are dodging artillery fire, not just a bullet.

Yeah because of course the business model that pcp are using is that of Man City .
A team bought for £265m , investment of a billion , world class manager and players and now worth an estimated £2billion + .
Fat Ash business model 10 years on ... No investment , worth less that it owes him , no trophies , no world class players , relegation battles , bargain bucket loan players,
Glad we dodged all that success and investment .

Only income stream to increase in 10 years is the TV money. He will have his eyes on the new deal with thoughts of hanging about for it.

Of course he is, Just as andyj73 is entitled to ask £250,000 for his Pennywell Palace. But that doesn't mean he'll get it.

since she went on record committing to £100 million on players and a further £100 million on academy etc ... It's closer to the man city model than Fatboys minus £30 million on transfers and chronic underfunding . Since she was heavily involved in the man city deal I am assuming she has seen the possibilities of investing in football.
Mansoor recouped the whole cost price in 2015 by selling just13% to a Chinese consortium .. That's how to run a business , not starving it of funds , and creaming off much of the income generated .
But hey feel free to defend this as it's obviously meeting your personal hopes for the club .

I normally like reading your posts as they are generally well thought out. I mainly feel the opposite to what you say but you do make some valid points. However, on this post you are way off the mark. I cannot even imagine where you are coming from. Posters on here have explained the Stavely/Man City scenario, which you choose to ignore? That baffles me, as it is very pertinent and germaine to the current debate.

Ashley holding out is ok as long as he intends to sell and not keep ramping up the cost. The one thing I am certain of , in my mind, is that he has now absolutely no feel or affinity for the club but wants only what's best for him and his narrow view on how to achieve that. If we go down then no one wins when all we want is a win/win result? Remember this impacts on the emotional and financial aspects of the City of Newcastle as much as it does on MA's wallet.

I quote from an interview with Staveley reported in the Chronicle:

'Unlike the Manchester City takeover which saw seemingly endless pots of cash thrown at the club, Staveley accepts that this would not be the case should PCP ever acquire Newcastle.'

I fear, therefore, that the comparisons drawn above with the Man City takeover are just dreams. If she can't raise her unconditional bid beyond £250m then forget about investment of a billion. What proof is there that another £200m is available for investment?
