    NZ is not exactly on your doorstop, not sure of the distance mind.

    Must admit the travelling side of it just before a new season could be a problem, or could it ?

    From Sydney to Auckland is about 1338.23 miles
    Im not sure how far away Auckland is from Sydney though

    evening alf.

    flights from sydney to auckland are about 3.5 hours, which isn't too bad.

    many english teams are starting to see a benefit in pre-season friendlies (or tournaments) in australasia, particularly for non-marquee clubs looking to enhance their brand.

    liverpool were here last pre-season, and played in front of a packed mcg (i think) in melbourne, with close to 100,000 fans. apparently they could have sold that game out another two or three times, such was the demand, or played sold out games in sydney (80,000), and brisbane (50,000).

    man u have done the same on a couple of occasions.

    a couple of years ago, sydney fc hosted a four way tournament, including blackburn, rangers, and aek athens. crowds were lower than expected, due to midweek games and some atrocious weather, but did receive a fair bit of media coverage.

    i am not convinced that two games against the phoenix are going to be a huge draw card for either set of fans, and would suggest that a tournament similar to
