Rowett Needs Time To Build Derby

Rowett speaks to Sky Sports about how brutal it is being a manager in the Sky Bet Championship and how he needs time to adjust to get things right at Derby and do what other managers before him couldn’t do and he is amazed that he is the third longest serving manager at Derby and he has only been under the helm for 6 months.

Also he talks about other English managers like Sean Dyche & Eddie Howe should be given more credit for the hard work that they put in to the modern game.

I should imagine it would take many years to build Derby, what with planning consents and getting the builders in etc.

So he sits just after Jimmy Methven and George Jobey as the third longest serving Derby County manager. Interesting

This thread does highlight the fundamental problem with this poster. if he just copies and pastes with no credit to the original author that is wrong. If he just posts a link and no comment, that is essentially spam; if he adds his own comment together with the link he inevitably misunderstands the content and adds inaccurate tripe of his own - eg the Rowett 3rd longest manager, but also the strange phrase "under the helm".

Therefore he is in between a rock and a hard place - simply copy and stand accused by us of plagiarism or add his own opinion and thus misinterpret what is being said in the linked article. We should be sympathetic to his plight .....

    TECHNICAL NOTE

A person in charge of a ship might be said to be "at the helm" but being "under the helm" would be a breech of IMO MSC/Circ.982 which included the Guidelines on Ergonomic Criteria for Bridge Equipment and Layout. Furthermore SOLAS V regulation 22 that governs navigation bridge visibility would be significantly compromised by being underneath the ship's wheel. Some of the more modern containerships do have flexible bridges which can be moved when navigating in tight spaces, but even then the captain would never find himself under the helm with its attendant visibility problems.

A long term plan isn't being helped by the signings he has made..Davies.hudds.Nugent ledley are not building a team they are stopgap add giving bent and Baird contracts to that too..if you are building for the future you buy young and mould them into a team .the players we are signing will have to be replaced every Couple of years .we need to build a team not 11 good players on a pitch who look like
    never met before

I agree we need to add more younger additions to the squad we have an overaging squad with the average age of 28 and the team that played recently against Bristol City were the average age of 30 or over.

We need fresher, pace and drive and you will get that with younger players but at the moment our squad is aging and all those traits have gone out of the window and that is something Rowett will have to change in January.

Except Rowett is saying that the focus will be on getting players out as he wants to slim the squad and reduce the wage bill. Plus up to now he has added older players saying that the squad needed experirnced players who had been there got the T shirt with regards to promotion.

I have zero confidence for the florest game with the players we have, we are going up against a young florest side whomay be starting to find their feeta little, esp with the passing style theyve implemented under Warburton, its been a good solid start for them imo, cant put a sequence together because its a relatively new mentality being bedded in,, but i guarantee theyll finish above us this season,, because sadly we have slow players with not much fight and only here for a final payday

Rowett does need time, this season needs to be a write off imo, get the deadwood out and building fir the future,, but giving new contracts to baird bent etc isnt filling me with great confidence tbh.

4/1 for florest to win on sunday is great value though, and ive had 30 quid on it happeneing to cushion the blow of a loss.
