I was in a meeting in Manchester this morning. People bustling about, sun shining, cafes all full, Royal Arcade buzzing and yet there are tents with people sleeping on the streets in Market Street. We live in a broken society sinkov and until we get a Labour government back in Downing Street things are not going to get any better. FOR THE MANY NOT THE FEW.

More lefty tripe BT, the number of homeless on our streets peaked in 2003, after 6 years of a Labour government, the current number is way down on that. My source, Department for Communities and Local Government, where do you get your figures from, or do you just make them up as you go along ?
I cant wait till we get the left in to see what an unholy f*** up they make of it all then we can all agree that politics is Royally f*****!
Time for radical change.
And I'm simply reporting the facts BT, the latest homeless number I can find is less than half what it was in 2003, not my figures, you'll have to take it up with the Department for Communities and Local Government, and income inequality has barely altered for many years, again not my figures, I gave you the source, you can check those figures out as well.
Despite Andy Burnham's fine words about rough sleeping in Manchester, the reality is different.
Here is a bit from an article by Vince Cable about it.
After an evening with the medics I joined a campaign the following morning by Manchester Lib Dems on homelessness.
The Labour council in Manchester, portrayed nationally as a beacon of enlightenment, has a harsher reputation at home. Its latest idea is a ‘homelessness tax’ (a system of spot fines at people who sleep rough in the town centre). Together with Big Issue North, our team have mobilised a big petition against a measure which follows a long tradition – embodied in the Vagrancy Act – of punishing the down and outs for being down and out. Or perhaps the Labour council think they just don’t fit the image of a successful, economically developing city and have to be cleaned out of sight.
The political reaction to the campaign - organised by three Lib Dem councillors up against 97 Labour – has been enormous.

So the LibDems latest stunt is to campaign for the rights of the homeless to sleep rough in Manchester city centre ? I think I'll just give my head a wobble, and get back outside, karchering the patio in the hot sunshine.
