    I'm glad hayden isn't playing. merino can't l;ast out the whole game, he isn't fit enough. so good sub to bring on later.

    apart from that i don't see who else he could have played , maybe mbemba- is he fit??

    Saviet? I do think we'll see him and Mbemeba starting in the coming games.

    Risky challenge already from Charlie Adam and we've not even made it to a minute.

    Referee Chris Kavanagh isn't interested though.

    Peter Crouch backs into Ciaran Clark and we've already got a stoppage. Nothing sinister in that and play eventually continues

    What was that?! Newcastle have a decent opening as the Stoke defence switch off, the ball drops to Christian Atsu 18 yards out but his strike is the living embodiment of a lack of confidence. Side-footed, first tome, sliced wide, powder-puff power.

    Woeful effort. It barely reached the corner flag.


    Probably shouldn't have made me laugh but it really did.

    well atsu has had 3 or 4 chances already... surely if they keep it up one of them should go in
