I always thought it was on herringthorpe field.
Clearly not.
The band, not the dinosaur. I've read on here in the past, tales of this legendary concert from those who were there (feel free to share again). I was walking through the Park the other day and stopped to read the information placard next to the bandstand, which mentions the concert in 1971. There's not much on the Internet about it, and I can't find any pictures at all apart from a couple of ticket stubs.
I'm wondering whereabouts in the park it took place, how many were there and does anyone have any pictures?

Saturday 28 August 1971
T. Rex
Clifton Park, Rotherham, UK
Line-up: T. Rex, Marmalade, Arthur Brown, Kingdom Come, Terry Reid
Audio only:
The Specials and UB40 appeared on Herringthorpe Playing Fields. It was a bit lacking in atmosphere - Rotherham folk of the time (1980?) didn't seem to know what to make of it all.
I'm interested to know where in clifton park it took place and what was the turnout? Could Rotherham ever host a large scale music event again? I wasn't even around in 1971 but I know that T Rex were a big deal.
The stage was at the bottom of the hill facing uphill, almost parallel with Donny Road. Roughly where the bonfire is/was held I think.
