To put a damper on things...

All this Dicko talk is way over the top. The guy has only played a half a dozen first class games, admittedly they were generally impressive but we need to put things in perspective. We're treating his hoped for arrival like the second coming of the Messiah and setting ourselves up for a huge disappointment. Whether he comes here or goes elsewhere he's only human. He'll have bad days, injuries, he's only young and might not progress as expected, many don't. And can we really afford to pay A?600,000 in the next year for his signature plus salary? It's a huge gamble which may pay off but could end up costing us dearly in the longer term.

Leeds, I've a great idea. Let's stick with what we've got for the time being, bring back the loan players, then sell our best assets, have no ambition, watch the crowds dwindle and the stadium fall into disrepair. Sound familiar? No, let's go for it if we can.

10 goals in the championship last season, from very few starts.

We need to continue taking steps forward as a club. The days you refer to are in the past, NYS and our crowds in Lge 2 and 1 show that already. I would guess the club wage bill is bordering on a record even higher than championship days but if the extra crowds and income cover it then that's fine. Hopefully we can push on and bring Dicko in but only if it's affordable. Football has tight margins and you need luck at the right time. If we had beaten Fleetwood and Rochdale in the Cups we would have got 2 full houses at NYS and more FA Cup prize money. That could have been combined an extra ?150K burning an hole in TS and SE pockets.
