2 1/2 years running the team, shouldn't we expect better than that lot? I mean, there's A?40m + spent there.
The failings that occur when JUST a manager has control.

    Noble Diame Tomkins,Ravel.

    Carroll.Vaz Te Jarvis.Downing.

It would be a poor coach who couldnt get a decent eleven out of that with just a couple of additions.

    .
    Adrian -I'm not convinced
    Demels - about 40 and can't defend..
Collins - gets slower by the game.
Obrien - dont get the love. Very mediocre, squad player at best.
Mcartney - Would not get in another PL team.
Tomkins - Midfield? Did you see him get embarrassed when he played there. CH yes midfield no.
Diam - Doesn't want to know.
Jarvis - Worse signing in club history.
Vaz Te - Absence has made him a good player, he's not. Championship at best.

Sorry, but these are not good enough[/

Had enough now...I responded to your point of a new manager having nothing to work with.

You've now reverted to criticising the manager, which I can't argue with.

Not criticizing the Manger at all, I'm criticizing the amount of power he has. Why is a 'new' manager allowed to make decisions unguarded?
would an FD allow this? I think not.
How can middle management make decisions that can break a £100m + business? Is this allowed in any other business?

Just thought of another great example: Joe Kinnear

Great knowledge of the game and Newcastle FC - Shola "Amanobi" and JonAĦs "Gaultierez" a€“ and has all the smooth negotiating skills of a charging hippo.

I don't think there's any harm in the whole "Manager runs the show" approach... IF ...
...that Manager is adept at training and coaching, team selection, tactics, transfer market dealings, well connected, visionary, has a complete interest/view of ALL players within the club (youth through to senior)...

How many of those boxes does Allardyce tick?

It all just boils down to lack of collective quality in the above... job titles are irrelevant.

But what happens when the manager, even if he is superb, leaves? With him having 100% control everything falls down and the club has to start again.

Tend to agree with Mike V, lots to work with for any new manager with a different style. With our defense fully healthy and midfield players like Downing, Noble, Morrison, J. Cole and yes Jarvis (beats his man often, but has a weak left foot, right footed crosses have been much more effective) a new approach would be very feasible

I would think a new striker would be all that would be needed to change the system of play.
