I would agree. Should have been more of a celebration. He was 92; might have been different, if someone younger and gone suddenly
Whether you prefer applause or silence, the fact that the silence was so impeccably observed spoke volumes for the respect the football family holds for its special servants - the majority of us never saw Finney play but for many of us we grew up being told by our fathers what a fantastic player he was. That respect for the greats of the game filters down to the younger fans. There's a certain nobility about a minute's silence like today.
