    re: The Wolves Thread.

Went in this pub at lunchtime for a cheese roll and a pint. I was telling the barman that when I used to drink in there as a kid the landlord was a Wolves player, I just could not remember his.

Some old guy in the corner piped up "Dicky Rhodes"! That is him below. He didn't look like that when he kept the boozer. He was a big ugly bald git with scars all over his head from heading {badly?} the old laced balls. The pub was a bit rough back in the day, fights every weekend without fail, mind you old "Dicky" used to start most of them himself.

It was and is a great old pub if you are in town at any time it is worth a visit.

Little story about him in the link below. - view external link

I didn't want to start a new thread just for this. I hadn't seen it before as I was away on holiday. My apologies if anyone has put it up somewhere else. - view external link

A great find, Woody! Real Madrid 7 Eintracht Frankfurt 3 in the 1960 European Cup Final was, for me, the ultimate masterclass in how the game should be played. That we beat Real 3-2 at the Mol and drew 2-2 in Madrid was simply stunning. Such a shame that we couldn't do the same to Barcelona, but their Suarez makes the modern one look like a fairy!

Real Madrid had Puskas and unfortunately, Barcelona had Kocsis, from the great Hungarian team of the mid 1950s:-

I was sorting through a load of stuff recently and I came across a packet of First Day Covers (yes I was that sad). Amongst them was a comminatory envelope, addressed to The Secretary Molyneux Ground, Wolverhampton; printed with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wolves versus Juventus Quarter Finals UEFA Cup dated 22 Mar '72.
