Replays or penalties in cup finals?

Uniteds first trophy was won after a replay , comfortably (3-0 v the sheep ) and last league cup final was lost on penalties to Rangers . I think a replay is the better way to decide , Aberdeen deserved this particular cup win more than inverness, but 0-0 aet cup final games should go to a replay in my opinion . I know nowadays due to the expense of a game and with fans travelling all over the world for a final it won't happen though .
