We lost at Forest 1.0 in the Cup on the 17th of Feb 1974. Then at FP a 2.0 loss in the league 27th April 74. Pompey Rama normally only has records of Pompeys team and scorers but someone has put a note on that Duncan scored 2 late goals that Saturday. He then left Forest in the summer, being signed for Leeds by Cloughie during his famous 44 day tenure. Hope that helps

Cloughie always signed the best players that suited his system. Mackenzie was no exception.

It was rumoured that he was such an athlete that he could do his party trick of jumping completely over the top of a mini. In those days I could jump 1 metre 80cm and 6 metres 66cm long jump, but even I wouldn't back myself to jump over a car.

Might be more difficult to recognise our party, as the noisy 12 year olds won't be with us!

I went to that Forest Cup game on a coach trip from Plessey where I worked at the time. We had the worst coach you could imagine that had a top speed of about 35mph. We left Havant at 6.00am and only just made the 3pm kick of and got home after midnight. Horrendous day and losing didn't help.
Can remember being surprised at how close the Forest and County grounds were to each other. Never been back.

Pompey had played 5 Cup games by the time they visited Forest. A home 3.3 draw against Swindon followed by a 1.0 win in the replay at the Country Ground. Then a 0.0 draw at Fratton in front of nearly 33000 on a February Sunday against Orient. 1.1 at Brisbane Road in the !1st replay followed by a 2.0 win in the 2nd.

That reminds me of the Bradford player (mc' call?) who celebrated the Bantams promotion to the pl in similar fashion.
