So I thought I'd start a thread about next season's possible team, assuming this season's remaining results are as unlikely as Sam Allardyce getting sacked and we find ourselves in the Championship.

I think Reid and Morrison will be off, probably for decent money. If the Chuckles invest this, and whatever they glean from dildo sales into the team, it won't be an insurmountable problem, much as I'd love them at UP next season.

We've so far been linked with Meireles, Cattermole, N'Zonzi and Assamoah Gyan. Senior Chuckle has tweeted that we'll bring in 3-5 signings. If that means 4, then one has to be a decent centre-back to replace Winston. Of the remaining three I reckon a left-back is a must. O'Brien and Linda are past their sell-by dates and Armero's positioning for the Sunderland goal made me question if he's the answer. Ryan Bertrand would be good.

It does all depend on removing Nolan from his automatic start status.

Reid and Morrison may stay if the improvements to the team are substantial.

I'd like to see most of out Transfer kitty spent on a good all round midfielder, another Noble would be nice.

And if we get a second striker, Vaz Te is a good back up for that spot.

Indeed Mike, and the Nolan problem crops up again.

Many, including me, were very vocal in condemning him earlier in the season. In February he shut us up with some goals, if not performances, In March he reverted to type.

I watched his performance closely on Monday. An early shot sliced hugely wide that luckily fell to Diame. A handball that was a nailed on penalty. A booking, constant moaning and giving the ball away. In short, a pretty poor performance. And yet some slag off Taylor, who, imo, is three times Nolan's worth in the team.

We got away with it this season but this one month on, one month off

Pace.

We are a counter attacking team without any really quick players so I would like to see somebody like Redmond?Zaha/Nani on the wing and Delph in midfield but it all depends on who our manager is.

I'm not even going to discus additional strikers because Sam will never play with two at the same time.


A team without Allardyce in charge is another thread altogether.

not sure about Bertrand...he was woeful against us at VP although I think he may have been carrying an injury.

For me we need the following :
A winger that is better than Jarvis
a pacey midfielder

That would mean we would have a three prong attack with pace because I like Downing.

replace Nolan with Diame (Diame has limited energy but playing off the striker would use less).

Buy a CB and a left back...agree that our two are ageing.

I'm less concerned about Reid moving, although he's been outstanding this season, because there are more decent quality CD's around than there are players with Morrison's potential. Reid has given us good service for the 4 years he's been with us and if he chooses to move on who could really blame him if a bigger club came in for him.

Obviously, in common with many on this forum, I think it's very much worth perserve
