Autoroute 640 heading north of Montreal to the Mirabel Airport. About 30 years ago Montreal needed a larger airport to handle the increased air traffic. The bone-headed solution was to build a new, first-class facility about one hour north of Montreal in the middle of NOWHERE. Farmer's fields were expropriated, ancient cemeteries moved and 100s of millions of dollars went into this crazy scheme. The result was an inconvenient location that had major airlines redirecting their scheduled flights to more centralized airports in nearby cities. Eventually the place was made into a centre for air-cargo and little else.
