    Derek Young - an appreciation

Was just thinking about Derek's contribution to Queens . Just thought he was a fantastic player for us . A 'proper' midfielder , could put in a tackle , knew where to position himself to receive and give a pass and put his foot on the ball and make a telling one . You got the feeling he really enjoyed playing for Queens . Injuries finally bogged him down but he was one of the best I have seen in our colours . Can't think off hand of many better in that position.

Brilliant player who must of traveled 1000's of miles to train & play for Queens from his Aberdeen home

Great player, and seemed to really enjoy playing for the club, will never forget his performance in the Ramsden`s final (masterclass) and his goal celebration at New Bayview

A player that really appreciated winning the double at Palmy after a long career. Never seen a player as chuffed as Derek was when Queens celebrated winning the trophies at the end of last season - will always be remembered as the
    unsung hero of 2012 - 13.

Great player and superb attitude. I think he can still do a job in the championship to be honest.

Great player, with a very professional attitude. Could tackle, and pick a pass. When everyone around him was rushing about he always seemed to have time on the ball. You can't coach that skill.

One of those effective players that you always miss when he is not there.
