World Cup: Argintina up the anti!

Pure genius from our South American friends. I hope we play these as its going to be a real old ding dong game!

    Clever political move.

To be fair IMO its time we started negotiating giving these back. If we did Honk Kong then why not two little islands (pretending to be ignorant of the tactical importance of these islands)?

Translation for you none spanish speaking. The Falklands Are Argentinas!

I know you like the power of a dictatorship rat but that's a bit extreme. - view external link

It's actually nothing new. The Argentinians often put it on show like this before their international games. Doubt that anybody ever takes any notice. Does make a bit of a farce of the "keep politics out of sport" mantra though!

Have you been to Argentina. They are a very passionate people! The mothers still march every sunday with the white scarves for the children abducted by the gunta in the 70's and they have quite a few long term protests everywhere.

Apart from tactical advantage the British government have no real interest in the Islands.

If they had a couple of Islands off the coast of the UK do you think they would be so pig headed?

Please provide historical proof that they belonged to Argentina Ratty.

Also I won't even ask you why Argentines speak Spanish?

They have been heavily disputed for years. They technically belonged to the Spanish when the Spanish had soverignty over Argentina too. Its gone backwards and forwards between different nations. However in 1833 the British effectively ethnically cleansed the Argentinian population from the Islands ...

We negotiated with them in the 70s I beleive over the Islands but pulled out and refused to continue.

And Argentina is predominantly Spanish speaking ... dont get confused with Brazil speaking Portuguese ... you daft lad! Big difference between a typo and ignorance...!

So what you're saying is then, the Spanish Conquistadors ethnically cleansed any native population, colonised it and made Spanish the native language? Or did the natives speak Spanish before then?
Of course Spain and Argentina are in no way close mates here are they? The Spanish could never be accused of inhabiting lands, that don't belong to them ei
