If that's what Scholes feels then why not say it?

Now is as good a time as any to make the comments too - In the past 3 tournaments Rooney has been poor compared to his performances at club level. I can't see Scholes comments causing him to perform any worse and if there is any chance that this will inspire him to prove the doubters wrong then all well and good.[/quote]

I hope that's exactly what happens, England need Rooney to perform now...I reckon Scholes is spot on, just surprised he's saying anything at all given his taciturn nature...some players do peak early, Michael Owen is on

Nothing shocking about hearing the usual deluded boasts. You've been puffing your chests out and proclaiming how massive you are for your entire footballing lives. The Barnsley Gunners.

Rooney's coming in for some almighty stick tonight. He didn't play well tonight in a position that doesn't suit him but there were others who underperformed. The game was lost on Roy's tactics board unfortunately - it was Seppuku to leave our flanks so exposed to the tactically supreme Italians. Schoolboy error from the octogenarian.

We might be home before the postcards as Tommy Doc used to say.
