    Everyone is going youth these days.
    Will we ever see again, any Tier 2 signing a big striker? (or at least a former big with some years left not on his last legs)

    I think the FFP prevents this and the bigs (not the top shelf, but say 2 or 3 rungs down) are not willing to sign a contract and take a pay cut.

    A shame really, because they'll get game time and have a chance to really resurrect their career.

    But I don't see as a bad move by Derby. SmC is a good coach and the lad is in good hands, training and mentoring wise.

    This may be the long term answer to getting wages down to a level of sanity. You say these players are not willing to take pay cuts. Well their contracts run out & if nobody picks them up they don't have many options.
