In the Sixties Gene Roddenberry attempted to launch a television series about what America shouldn't do in Vietnam and said that they shouldn't be there at all. It was a failure and was withdrawn.Not to be deterred he used the same message in a new science fiction series called Startrek which became a global success.The same message which was once totally ignored now became accepted worldwide.What was it? Starfleet Prime Directive prevents Starfleet personnel from interfering in the internal development of alien civilisations specially those below a certain threshold of development,and should not impose on those civilisations ideals and values purely by superior technology and weaponry. In other words nations should be left to work their own destinies. They may well become successful even more so than us and then again they may not, that's up to them. Us more so than others,international slave trade on the African Continent, destruction on the North American continent and Australasia of it's first peoples. I wonder if we'll ever improve on our record that out of 200 nations on the globe, there's only 26 we've haven't invaded. If we'd just kept to our national boundaries and limited our population to sustainable levels who knows what would have be achieved. Yep, that's also how the Wild West was won. Gandhi used better tactics in India. The British had to leave when the locals totally ignored us and the country became ungovernable and unexploitable.
