    OT Derek Hatton

Just seen on BBC North West News that he's applied to join the Labour Party again.

    What an absolute tosser!!!

That era of the early 80's was probably the only time that I took a real interest in politics. I was at Sheffield Uni deep in the heart of The Socialist Republic Of South Yorkshire during the Miner's Strike and lived amongst miners and steel workers and saw the hardship that they went through, understanding their grievances against the Thatcher government but also the hushed conversations of those who wanted Scargill and the hard left to simply **** off and leave the working class alone and not use them as a flag to fly in their crusade.

Neil Kinnock, whilst totally ineffective at leading a completely unelectable party, gave one of the best speeches I have ever seen at the Labour conference in 1985

If you weren't around at the time it probably means nothing to you, but if you were, then I defy it not to move you!!

Hatton - you were a complete knob then, you are now, and yo

Can't stand Hatton,he's always been a total dickhead. As a lifelong Labour voter this is just what the party doesn't need. Andy Burnham and the other prospective leadership candidates must be dreading him giving them his public backing. Be the death knell for their political careers. In interviews he seems to be trying to cosy up to Burnham as a fellow scouser and Everton fan.The Sun etc. will be calling him Red Andy before you know it.

If he is accepted back into the party it will make Labour even more unelectable than they were under Milliband
