Nolan might contribute huge out of sight in the dressing room but a massive vote for zarate from me
As was said on another post, Nolan has done very well for us in the past, particularly being largely instrumental in guiding us up at the first attempt with some important goals.
Age however catches up with everyone, and while a few like Teddy Sheringham and Frank Lampard can adapt themselves, Nolan can't.
He's a midfield player that has an eye for goal, but with every season he's been with us he's becoming less effective and his injury during the week was a blessing in disguise.
Zarate showed invention and more importantly energy that was so lacking last season in particular.
With respect, maybe because the Pukis factor, Palace were very poor but you can only beat what's in front of you which we did convincingly aside from a ten minute wobble.
I've read about Allardyce and his 'Bolton Mafia' but they've all done pretty well for us.
But there's something bordering on the unhealthy about his support for Nolan. Apparently he sorts out the dressing room, organises team fines and ge

Its all about Squad, it`s plain to me that the pair would not fit in the same team so it`s either or, there is certainly room for both at the Club.
Horses for Courses.
Has been a great captain for us. We needed him in that respect and he delivered. We can all see that he can't keep up with the game and now offers little to the team in that respect. We need to evolve and that evolution does not include Nolan as a starter in the team. There is a place fr him on the bench coming on if we are chasing goals but that's it. I would like to see him around the place, maybe a player coach as he clearly has good leadership skills and the players respect him. We should all remember that he doesn't pick himself. BFS puts him in there.

Rather have Kevin Turvey*

FFS Frogie!
I'd rather have 'Mike Bassett' as our manager/player coach.

Allardyce is in a good position right now, the team have played well and the new signings (particularly Kouyate) look to have settled very well. If he reverts back to his default setting and he starts losing matches with Nolan in the team then his job is finished.
Nolan is most effective when Carroll is alongside him but I don't think we'll see Big Andy again this season, in fact I'd be surprised if he ever plays 50 more games for us so we have to plan without him. The team is evolving and Zarate & Morrison are skilful quick number 10's who don't need their path blocked by a bloke only suited to one style of play.
nolan in any form of coaching role? no thanks :/
is it possible that nolan has such an influence on the players, that sam is afraid of losing the dressing room if he drops him?
