But having said that, it's more a question of what, if anything, we learn from it. I don't think defeats always need to be seen negatively, provided lessons are taken on board. That's where AVB and Sherwood fucXXX up in my view. AVB stuck to something that didn't work and Sherwood seemed to alienate the players when we came unstuck. I hope our new manager looks at it more intelligently or wisely. He seems, in my view, a much better character to have at the helm, and one of the pressing needs is to address Lamela. Behind the scenes, you'd expect work to be done there to make him the effective player we need him to be game after game, and that he has the talent to be.

Lamela was isolated. He had to hold onto the ball with nowhere to go as either 1, there was nobody near him or 2, Adebayor was standing still and not making runs in front of him.

My question is why did we even start with the same 11 v QPR?
Kaboul payed Thursday night and obviously was not up to it.
Maybe Dier at CB and Naughton at RB?

Kane/Lennon should have started instead of Chadli. It would have given that shaky defence of theirs something to worry about and maybe someone would have got on the end of crosses.

What got me is that we have not learned anything from last year. We went into this game with no belief and started lethargic both halves and conceded.

Allen is a diving c-unt but Kaboul cost us that goal. He's our captain ffs!
He also cost us the first by not leading his line. he could have been in line with the others and Henderson would have been offside, or moved over and covered henderson. Not be in no mans land and shove the responsibility for Sterling over to someone

Some really good comments being made, on the personal level as well, to be honest.

I'm not too pessimistic, seeing as it was only our third Premier match and Liverpool were league runners-up last year, and it wasn't as bad as last season's walloping, but the softness of the penalty and one or two comments Pochettino made about luck I reckon need putting to bed. Real lessons have to be taken on board, like with Kaboul. The guy is really likeable, infectiously so, and when he returned to us, was worth his weight in gold. But if we can see how his standards have slipped, or even plummeted, recently, surely management can? It's a bit like Dawson, really, and not just in terms of being captain. Bless Dawson for the way he tirelessly fought for us over the years but blind Freddy could see even last season he just wasn't up to it any more.

I don't want another season like last year's. I still reckon we bought some great players - but we do need management to get a grip, so that when things
