Salmond does not kNOw what currency Scotland will use, any savings Scots have could be devalued, they may go up, I like a gamble but this is TOO RISKY.
there's no question that an indy scothland will use sterling.

the question is will it be as part of a full-blown currency union. no one can answer this 'cos the tories won't play ball. salmond's probably evasive on this point cos he doesn't know how it will play out, but that's to be sorted once YES win the day.

if it's not a currency union, scothland will still use sterling but in the same way as a number of latino countries use the dollar. ie without a central bank acting as a lender of last resort. this might just keep scotch banks - what remains of them post YES - honest. without a back-stop they shouldn't be as profligate as the UK banks were

If the EU let Scotland in then we may see other countries (like Spain) being divided too, dangerous precedent to set, it could actually lead to the downfall of the EU

    nay, jj.

born and bred east lancs. have some scottish blood though i reckon with a scotch surname.

i'm hoping we get a socialist gvt on our doorstep. would be an interesting development.

interesting article on currency union at link.

the gvt. had this to say on currency union...

"There would be a highly complex set of negotiations after a yes vote, with many moving pieces. The UK wants to keep Trident nuclear weapons at Faslane and the Scottish government wants a currency union – you can see the outlines of a deal."

your questions can't be answered for certain, but you can see the way the wind is blowing if you look closely enough.

don't let fear rule you, jj. - view external link

He hasn't "assured" me, it's a big fat NO!

The EU could cut fishing quotas, Salmonds hot air could power the whole of Europe, unfortunately there's f**k all attractive about the c**t.

    can i ask, jj.

if the situation was flipped on its head, and scothland was indy, would you vote YES to joining the UK in a vote?

If I was living in an independent Scotland then I wouldn't be British, so I would probably vote no, like I probably would if you asked me if I wanted to become a german or a pole or an american.
