looked to me that he had no chance. I dont see the point in a token dive, maybe grant feels the same.

Agreed, Antonio just strolled through midfield with nobody near him, where was Eustace?

Eustace ran to the left for some reason...leaving the defence totally unprotected..

buxton had already commited, if you leave a man unmarked on the edge of your box to double up on a player like keogh did it is poor decision making. Plain and simple.

Not that far out you don't! A defender with a brain doesn't leave the man he's marking to try and tackle another man. If he really thought somebody should be in for the tackle, he should be telling somebody else to whilst defending his box.
Eustace totally at fault for the goal, he even puts his hand up when it goes in. Terrible decision not to cut off the central run of Antonio.
That's specifically what he's in the team for, yet time after time we see him beaten for pace in there or missing in action.
Watch it again, all Eustace has to do is take 2 strides to his right and block the run of Antonio, forcing him to go wide, and buying our defence some time. Instead he looks to track the run of the wide midfielder.
Good god - get him out of the team before he costs us any more points.
Watch the footage again - Keogh has to block Antonio's run as he is uncontested straight through the middle.
Bucko is covering Forsyth, which is correct.
With the 4-1-2-3 the DCM should provide protection for counter attacks in the middle of the pitch, leaving the centre backs to go left or right if they are covering the attacking run of their own full back (in this case Forsyth).
It's pretty simple –*stop the most dangerous runs down the centre of the pitch, force the opposition out wide and allow time for extra men to recover.
Eustace is just hopelessly out of position, what should've been a fairly simple counter to defend, ends up with a 2v1 around the penalty spot and a goal.
It's very, very poor.
Plus he made a very rash tackle early on to get booked. I'm seeing week after week that he is out of his depth. If he wasn't out of his depth McClaren would've picked in there from day one.
his perfectly fine tackle that the ref got %100 wrong you mean?
Having not seen the goal again since the day you could be right that he is also at fault for it. One thing your definitely wrong on is this though
Keogh has to block Antonio's run as he is uncontested straight through the middle.
He didn't have to block the run as buxton was challenging him and if he did decide too, its a simple 2 foot pass to leave asommbetc with just the keeper to beat on 18 yards. He did decide to help buxton with Antonio and surprise surprise assombetc having been left unmarked there for no good reason scored.
Check the footage again.
Buxton doesn't commit, he's covering Forsyth –*so Keogh has to go. Freeze frame and put yourself in Keogh's position. Buxton isn't going so he HAS to go and stop Antonio.
If Eustace had done his job, Keogh wouldn't have been put in that position.
