Between them United and Liverpool have recently spent over £300 million + and they still can not defend. They have both purchased some world class international 'bigs,' but they all appear to be strikers.

They both have experienced managers who must clearly see the problem,- neither team can defend.

Funny co-incidence, over here there is a saying, "Offence for show, Defence for Dough!" While offence looks great in ice hockey with its flashy scorers and end-to-end rushes, it is the defence that wins games.

I remember when Pele was a dominate star in Brazil, every talented Brazilian lad wanted to play his position, but as that generation grew up it was found that there were few goalies and defenders of any natural talent or ability, just second raters, as the players with natural talent and any hint of genius were is a top heavy pool of goal scorers.
