Type in Raphael Ravenscroft Dumfries and there are 7 or 8 threads that says he is a Scot born in Dumfries but Wikipedia says Stoke ?

I'm afraid there's something afoot here ... if you go to Scotland's People, the official genealogical research site for the Scottish Government, according to it, there were only 2 male Ravenscroft children born in Scotland between 1947 and 1957 and they were both born in Fife!...
