Thread: The academy 'Scores' again.

  1. #1

    The academy 'Scores' again.

Once again our academy comes up with the goods in the form of the the 17 year old George Cooper, what a star in the making, apart from his all round game his incredible free kick really was top draw. Had it been in the premiership Gary Lineker would have been drooling like a bloodhound. Can't wait to see young Saunders and some of the other kids. If they are good enough they are old enough. Yesterday we took a huge step towards reverting to the "Crewe Way"

Agreed. When you think about Waters, Cooper, Colclough and Saunders, could be a very exciting forward line for years to come and all have the potential to move on to bigger things whilst swelling our bank account again. Hands off Hassall.

Ohh get real One Small Diamond you may get once in a Blue Moon does not represent good value for the Millions Spent on the Academy what about Miller, AJ, Mellor, hardly shining lights.
There are Loads of kids out there in None League, you don't need an Academy to please a couple of Directors, where did we get Pogba from? Proves it.Get a decent Scout and save millions.
Do you think kids will save us in this Division? Think again.

If you don't like it then take a trip down the A500. If others are to be believed, you already do anyway. Jog on.

Well, the above clearly is n't the truth. Three sales in seven figures within just over two years hardly constitutes once in a Blue Moon even for someone who struggles with numbers as much as you do.

We also got a fee for Miller but don't let the facts get in the way of another dull witted, one dimensional rant.

It is ridiculous to consider the Academy unproductive. I am led to believe there are 4 or 5 coming up behind the current batch occupying positions in the first team. Add to that Oliver Turton, Liam Nolan and of course Billy Waters and I would suggest that is evidence that it is worthwhile. You are not going to get a Nick Powell every year but I think it is going to yield several more millions over the next 3/4 years

Well it really doesn't matter how many millions they get as none will be spent on better wages or to buy experience to support these youngsters. Nobody yet as been able to get the board to come clean of where the 5 million has gone from Powell, Murphy and Westwood? So really makes no difference to the fans whether its zero, 300K or 30m!

Just remember we seem to play well against teams like Preston. Bolton and Coventry. They all say a good batch is coming through.. After ten years coaching/training most of us would have been as well! Anyway if they are any good then one season and then they are away. So what's so good about that for the ambitions of the first team progression in L1?

It was a very good win though and hope it can restart the season.

Could that be construed as a hint of positivity, Mike?
