They might just be loyal to a guy who has done well for them.

I hate seeing us lose to them but I don't mind Motherwell at all. They were a well run ship for a while.

Their home attendances, which were previously abysmal, seem to have taken a noticeable dive this season.

Edit: Down 21% compared to last year, based on first 5 home games.

    All a bit mysterious...

Motherwell warn fans must raise 1m or face club being 'sold very quickly'

Motherwell's board have warned the club will fall into the ownership of an unknown party if supporters fail to raise 1m by the end of next month.

The Well Society were originally set an 800,000 target by the end of November to claim control of the 75 per cent shareholding from former chairman John Boyle.

With the deadline fast approaching, the Society have been warned it will now take a seven-figure sum to ensure they can provide financial security.

In May, the club outlined that they were not at "crisis" point but warned they would have to seek external funding with the suggestion that groups are poised to take control at Fir Park if a deal can't be done with the fans' group.

A fresh letter from the board sent to prominent supporters, states: "As you know, in order to keep alive the prospect of assuming ownership of the club, the Well Society was given until the end of November

It's one of the problems with the Community Ownership model. It's a great ideal, and works when you've got tens of thousands of subscribers, but it's very difficult to get your average man on the street to fork out for membership on top of his ticket to the game.

It's difficult to see what more Motherwell could have done over the last few years. They've had the high league finishes, they've largely run a tight ship, and managed the odd transfer fee here and there. Still they're losing money. Something is broken in that model.

At the time of the offer, the idea of Community Ownership was all the rage. There were all sorts of fan groups who wanted to take back control of their team. It's a noble idea, for a large number of teams, it's far better to have someone in charge.

Hearts will probably make it work because there's a large, relatively affluent fanbase, who have dipped into their pockets before. The fan ownership model will probably work for them. For clubs like Motherwell and

    Good points your eloquency

I meant once they'd come out of admin. Initially they were getting it right.

It'll be interesting when this 'imminent' announcement is made on our debt. I can't see a PayPal style 12m transfer taking place.

Having spent a fortune on wages pre admin and then in recent years to be consistently up there in the league, it goes to show that a club like that will never generate any interest.

The pull of the newco and Celtic was too great but it's got worse in the last couple of years as young kids now want the EPL or Real and Barca.

Kids in general have no interest in going to football.

I know a couple of Motherwell fans and they have stopped going as much this season due to the price and standard of the games.

    The clubs doomed.

Ye gods, what a thunderingly idiotic post. No one's denying they overspent and paid the price for it by going into admin. But the decision to make folk redundant was the administrator's, not the club. Since then, they've been the model of good practice. What else do you want from them?

It's okay to not hate everyone that doesn't wear a red and white scarf, ye ken.
