Antolin Alcaraz won't need shoulder surgery.

Roberto Martinez has revealed that Antolin Alcaraz could return to action with Everton in three weeks after it was decided that he does not need shoulder surgery.

The defender suffered a dislocated shoulder during last weekend's goalless draw with Swansea City, leading to fears that he could miss up to three months.

"The decision has been made not to go through surgery. The specialist feels it is the best way to approach the injury which is great news because it reduces the period Antolin is going to be out.

“We will find out over the next few days how he responds but we are now probably looking at a period of three, four or five weeks maximum, which is fantastic from what we had earlier thought".

Martinez Added:

“Sylvain Distin came in against Lille and looks refreshed and ready for the challenge ahead".

“Young Tyias Browning is ready, and even Brendan Galloway. So we have got our centre-half positions well covered".
