    O/T remember them

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

    We shall remember them"

I wasd after my uncle who was killed in the 2nd world war. He was the oldest of my mothers 5 brothers.

People don't understand what it was like, I didn't. But my mother no longer with us nobody would convince her that Germany had changed from those war years.

    My Uncle George

Joined army just before WW2 as a private in the East Yorks. Shipped to France as part of the BEF, evacuated at Dunkirk. Retrained in UK and was at the landings on D-Day, regiment progressed to Caen where George was badly injured by a shell. They evacuated him to behind the lines but ambulance hit a land mine and all aboard died.

    Buried in Bayeaux.

    All before his 25th birthday.

    RIP George

I was down there last week Millertop and they said they were being sold for 25 quid each for charity, don't know if that's true but if it is that's a lot of money!
