I had persuaded my late wife to go. We arrived by ROVERS' supporters' coach on a warm, sunny, August afternoon. With video camera dangling from my neck (like an American tourist) we approached the turnstile. A burly bloke in a day-glow bib approached. He was the Chief Steward. "Sorry, you can't take that camera into the ground!" he said firmly, but politely.
Taken aback, I pleaded we had made the long trip to experience their new stadium, and that I just wanted to pan round it. Given that assurance, rubbing his chin he relented. "OK, if a steward challenges you, tell him/her I've granted permission to use it!"
