    Ched Evans & Sheffield United

    Firstly I find it interesting that no one has posted anything on this topic (am I right?). Is that because we are all aware that "Big Brother Government" probably monitors this and other conversations.

    So, being mindful of any legal implications, I wondered what your views were?

    To start the ball rolling, I find the following comment astounding (see link for further info):

    The Professional Footballers' Association of Ireland has come to the defence of convicted rapist and former Sheffield United footballer Ched Evans.

    Evans was jailed in April 2012 for raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room in May 2011. He was released last month.

    The association's solicitor, Stuart Gilhooly, said Evans could be innocent.

    He said that while a jury convicted him of the crime, the same applied to the Guildford Four and the Birmingham Six.

    Leaving aside the FACT that he was convicted, my own personal comment is that, without at all condoning what he has done (which is appauling), the fact is t

    The problem is that a trend has been set by Lee Hughes et al. Is manslaughter worse than rape?

    SORRY guys, I've been out of the picture for a little while and didn't catch up with everything and I'm afraid that the thread title "Football fans and the moral high ground." was a little too subtle for me.
