The list goes on and there are people that would ban every thing on that list. thankfully we are semi free and can indulge when we like.

pubs/clubs aint the same since the smoking ban. the smell of B.O. vomit and stale beer is foul and all the fag buts out the front that everyone leaves. it was far better when it was inside hiding the smell, cleaner to.

The pubs and clubs in harlow must be something else if they smell like that !!! Let's just go back to the good ol days of chain smokers sparking up all night making the rest of us stink of it who cares if we breathe in hundred's of other people's second hand smoke maybe they could bring it back on buses trains and planes too, do away with air freshers and have that wonderful smokey smell instead fantastic i

If you think about it anything perceived good in life is illegal, immoral or fattening apart from seeing us win of course!!

One thing i find annoying is trying to get in a pub through all the gaspers at the doorway!!

It should be banned from all public places.
All pregnant women caught smoking should be automatically found guilty of child abuse, their children taken off them and public sterilisation and th

Well congratulations Cinders, your wish has come true.

Their sale is already limited by government legislation (otherwise you could flog them at your local market).

Their import is the subject of very heavy monitoring and the legal ramifications of trying to bring them in illegally are very serious indeed.

They already have a huge, punitive duty on their price. It's why a pack will cost you 2 euros in Spain, and 8 quid in the UK. If the government choose to use this cash to fund duck houses on their private ponds, rather than pass it to the NHS, that's something you should take up with them, not with the smoker who is paying royally for his habit.

So, you've already got what you asked for

Not really the point, is it SSY?

The point is that cigarettes have a huge amount of duty in the purchase price already.

On an £8 pack, you are paying over £6 in duty and tax.

Meaning the actual cost of the pack is about £2 - which includes the tobacco company's margin.

So a 20 a day puffer pays over £42 a week in tax and duty on his purchases.

That was my point - that smokers already pay a premium towards their healthcare costs. that the government chooses to 5punk it on gin and tarts is a different matter entirely.
