Just popped into the aforementioned Lidl, can report it is indeed super duper.
Where do you live then Corky, didn't realise you were a northerner living out in the sticks?

I live in Shipston on Stour mate. Somewhere between Stratford upon Avon and Oxford in a green nobbly cucumber populated void.

Do you still wash your sheep in the town? Looks very nice.

It is compared to the IoW. In fact Pompey is up north to us.

    The North starts at Birmingham.
To hear people in Inverness referring to Glaswegians as southerners was quite bizarre!

Watford Gap was the traditional starting point for us Southern Softies.

Tell you what it feels like feckin Siberia today. That wind is coming straight out of the Urinal Mountains.

Here in Nonsuchland we are extremely badly off for choice of groceries. From where I now sit we have a Sainsbury's supermarket in one direction up the A24 @ North Cheam and another a mile in the other direction towards Epsom, whilst if you can't manage either of those there is a Sainsbury's Local in the village, just a short trot across the Bypass and down Vicarage Lane; turn left @ the ancient monument of the village lock up and fire pump house and there it is next to the Star.

For those who cannot manage that 250m saunter, we do have a Marks and Spencer in with the BP at the other end of my Avenue which is only half that distance, and which will soon have competition in the shape of an Aldi or is it a Niti (?) superstore on what some of you may remember as the Organ Inn, across the road. The other of these two foreign interlopers is about to open down the Kingston Road towards Tolworth about a mile and a half, so we may well have a crush like in Letchworth before Christmas even yet.
