This has got me thinking of whether a certain scenario could actually take place, particularly in today's 'where there's blame there's a claim culture'-

Say a club (ours ?) finds themselves in this situation where a red card was wrongly issued which effectively turned a game- then at the end of the season that club gets relegated by a point or two. Given that clubs finances would suffer from that relegation, would we ever find a club suing the guilty ref for loss of revenue ?

Jon, I doubt it and to be honest would never want football to be down to such levels.

It wouldn't be the only incident a club would have in any season so the minefield / can of worms it opens would be awful.

Refs, we love them and hate them, are only human and decisions go both ways over a season.

I wouldn't want to see it myself to be honest- it just wouldn't surprise me, especially if it was a Prem team and the money that involves.

I wouldn't put it past a team in the premier league. We've seen in other leagues players that have received serious injuries and the one responsible sued. There's also the case of West Ham having to pay Sheffield United compensation after the Carlos Tevez three party signing.

The referee or the FA are probably next on the list to be taken to court over decisions in games.

I doubt that will happen, admitting a ref made an error is one thing but then penalising the player'influencing' a ref and his decision is another. Play acting has been punished after the event, but only once the media gets involved.
