    A Sligo fan on Baraclough

Have a mate who's a massive Sligo fan, his thoughts:

"Very surprised to see Baraclough get the job. Did a great job for us in sligo, but seemed to run out of ideas near the end of his tenure.

"There were a lot of questions about the players he signed. In many ways very similar to what is happening to the Liverpool manager at the moment. Young manger, good coach, but lacking a bit of steel in my opinion.

"Would like to see him do well, very nice guy and good for the image of the club."

Seems strange he won them league and 2 cups in his 2 and a half years their yet dosnt seem to give him a glowing report worried about the signings statement as that is 1 thing we need to get right as will be quite a few happening esp in the summer.

Lets give the guy a chance to get in the door to sort out the problems, too often the media state so and so is a good appoint for a club and he usually falls flat on their face.Im sure our new manager will know he is under pressure right from the start to get us to improve and he wouldn't have taken the job if he wasn.t sure of his own ability to do so

I would actually think hes not under too much pressure. The team is utter cack and it should be easier to improve that than improve a team thats doing well. If we go down it won't be his fault he can cite the fact he was handed p1sh and given nothing to strengthen, he was handed a team already detached from the bulk of the league.

Aye but the point is it wouldn't be his fault - if he does well he's the hero, if we go down he can say he had nothing to work with.

A big part of the reason for the worry about returning, was the financial state of the club. Hopefully that has been lessoned, at least in the short term.

Do you read a messageboard in another dimension? .. don't think I've ever read anyone on here saying if we go down we will never get back up. I think the comments have been if the Well Society have no financial muscle we will need to get used to operating outside the top league more frequently.

    Two completely different observations.
