West Bromwich Albion make opening offer for Callum McManaman but Wigan want £6m for the wide man in January transfer window

West Bromwich Albion are reported to have made a £4[!]8201;million bid for Wigan winger Callum McManaman.

Albion boss Tony Pulis is known to be keen to bring in quick wide men in the January transfer window.

The Telegraph claims that the opening offer has been rejected but Albion are expected to return with an improved bid.

Wigan apparently value McManaman at £6[!]8201;million and the 23-year-old is also being tracked by Championship leaders Bournemouth.

McManaman scored the winner against Albion as Wigan claimed a 3–2 victory at The Hawthorns in 2013.

He is best known for a man-of-the-match display in the 2103 FA Cup Final, when Wigan beat Manchester City 1-0, and an awful challenge on Newcastle United’s Massadio Haidara that resulted in a two-day review by the FA.

Championship side Wigan Athletic have turned down a bid in the region of £4m from West Bromwich Albion for winger Callum McManaman.
The 23-year-old is the Latics joint top scorer this season with five goals in his 22 appearances so far.
The former Everton trainee is contracted to the club until 2017.
"It would take an awful lot of money for Callum to leave Wigan - that would be a board decision," manager Malky Mackay told BBC Sport.
Former Stoke and Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis took over at West Brom at the start of the year and is still looking to make his first signing.
Huyton-born McManaman joined Wigan in 2007 after being released by Everton and had a loan spell at Blackpool before his first-team breakthrough at the DW Stadium.
He wasd man of the match when the Latics beat Manchester City in the 2013 FA Cup final.

"I don't think that's going to happen but you never know in football," said Deila, who recently admitted his interest in bringing Maloney back to Celtic for a third spell.

Maloney, 31, joined Celtic as a ****ager back in 1999, and whilst he left for Aston Villa in January 2007, he was back with Celtic just 18 months later having struggled in the Premier League.

The next three years reaped 15 goals and 18 assists, and he was back off to the Premier League again, this time with Wigan Athletic, who he has been with for almost four years now.

Yet now, Maloney's contract is set to expire this summer, which was spark mass interest in his signature, with Leicester City, Queens Park Rangers and even Chicago Fire interested in him, according to various reports.

This could be a disaster. Ramis is CLASS. He and Kvist would be impenetrable. (When we went to Uganda to see the gorillas we went to Bwindi -'The impenetrable jungle).

I'm not too worried though - he's only ever passed 1 medical and that was when he came to Wigan! He may not even have passed that one!! I have just about forgiven him for his loosely termed 'penalty', and they still haven't found the ball.
