    Premier League Scalps

Now , I am not going to upset Cresswell too much about banging on about how good this era is compared to others but I was wondering this . How many Premier League scalps have Queens taken since reconstruction in 1975-76 ? I know there isn't that many but can anyone come up with the definitive list ?

Yes mate and the first scalp was definitely in early 1976 when we beat St. Johnstone 3-2 in a game highlighted by Nith Valley earlier.

If you include that season JR, St.Johnstone and Ayr were both Premier League when we beat them in the Cup.

There is no doubt though that since the decision was taken to go full-time our performances against higher league opposition have improved dramatically and have been reflected in our comparative success.

I referred to 'cuttings' in a recent thread and one that sticks in my mind is one headed 'QUEENS TO GO FULL-TIME' which is from the early seventies !

It only took 35 years to come to pass !

Correct NV . I wonder if a man of your knowledge can remember another two from range 87-90 when these kind of successes were very rare indeed ? Edit to add that there is another I can think of from the mid to late 70's

Did we not beat hibs in a midweek scottish cup match 2-0 with ferrie scoring the second goal in 1977. Think celtic beat us 5-1 at parkhead in the next round. I am more than likely mistaken as I was just a youngster at the time and it's early memories, but could someone tell me if I am correct.

And did we not beat Falkirk in the early 90s on penalties in the league cup when they were in the spl.

Hi fatfan, the Hibs game you are referring to is likely to be the LC away game at Easter Road in 1977 that we won 2-1 with O`Hara and Peter Dickson for us. Queens got through with a goaless draw at home in the return leg. We did get beat 5-1 by Celtic in 76-7, beating Montrose and Alloa in earlier rounds. You are correct about us beating Premier League Falkirk but this was in 1987-88 , us wining 2-1. --------There are more, anyone ?
