I was in the Merchant Navy in the mid/late 60's, that was one of the ships that I worked on, I worked in the galley helping the cook...I saw the world through the eyes of a potato!

that ship was the Silvio, owned by Ellerman Wilson Line, sailing from Hull to mainly Scandinavian ports, regularly to Sweden, with the odd trip to Poland or Russia...when they were fairly scary countries.

great life, great ships, unlike the monstrosities nowadays...container ships...horrible!

this week this woman who was constantly getting abused by her children, 2 of whom were twin girls aged 8, one of the girls used atrocious language to her 'mum'...at one point the 'mum' said...I sometimes blame myself, is it my parenting skills?
