    Goalkeeper,s position

Do we stick with Long on Tuesday night against St.Mirren or do we bring Dan back into the team.As IMO St.Mirren will just punt high balls into our box with the intention of players challenging our keeper,Long has looked really suspect in games where the opposition have employed this tactic as well as our defence.

If St Mirren are going to punt high balls into our box We'd be as well giving Stevie Kirk a shout. The other two seem to be as bad as each other when it comes to dealing with cross balls.

Long, from what I've seen so far, is an absolute bombscare of a keeper and is one of the reasons that despite recent improvements in other areas of the team, we will still be playing championship football next season as he is costing us a ridiculous amount of goals through his poor judgement and general clangers. To me, he's every bit as bad as Nielsen who we released and Dan Twardzik, whom I don't rate either, must be feeling hard done by as he's not done any worse than this guy when given the chance.

By the same token, Dan Twardzik is no better either.

Unfortunately, on this occasion at least, LSM has the evidence to back him up. If I were wee Dan, I'd be feeling pi55ed off.

George Long prior to arriving at fir park looked ideal for our needs, lots of game time and international recognition. Unfortunately, he hasn't lived up to expectation. He alone has cost us goals and points.

Perhaps he is a better keeper than current performances indicate or maybe he's just not very good and destined to a career of mediocrity. Goalies form is heavily dependent upon confidence and for me, he looks like he's struggling with that.

Either way, to choose between and Dan at this time is hobsons choice.

No I didn't say that we should give up, indeed, I have stated elsewhere on the board that we have improved greatly over the past month. However, George Long has cost us goals and he has cost us points due to his errors and poor judgement and that is a statement of fact as the Ross County, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock games have shown, and he will, along with the defence in front of him, in my opinion, cost us more goals and more points before the season is out and that is why we will still be looking at a playoff or worse.
